Founding General Manager — Build & Scale Home Care
$90K – $105K Base + Uncapped Growth Commissions & Scaling Milestones + Company Car
Amana Assist Home Care – San Diego, CA Full-Time | Start-Up Leadership Role Base Salary: $90,000 – $105,000 + Uncapped Commissions & Scaling Milestones (DOE) + Company Vehicle
Lead, Build, and Scale a Home Care Agency
At Amana Assist, we believe that how you treat people — clients, team members, and partners alike — is the foundation of everything. We're a newly launched non-medical home care agency in San Diego, and we're looking for a founding General Manager who shares that belief and is ready to build something meaningful from the ground up — and who is motivated by a high-upside, performance-driven compensation structure.
This is not a maintain-what-exists role. This is a build-it role. You'll have the autonomy to shape operations, develop referral relationships, grow the client base, and hire a team that reflects our values. If you've been waiting for the chance to lead something from day one — this is it.
Before you read further — this role is not for everyone. In the first 60 to 90 days, you will be the entire operation. There is no team beneath you yet, no department to delegate to, and no corporate support structure to lean on. You will personally handle client intake calls, caregiver recruitment, scheduling, referral outreach, and compliance — simultaneously. If that reality excites you rather than concerns you — read on.
- Business development & referral generation — your #1 priority in Year 1
- Client acquisition: convert referrals from hospitals, case managers, SNFs, and assisted living communities into active care cases
- Home care operations — build workflows, scheduling systems, and quality standards
- Caregiver staffing & scheduling — recruit, hire, onboard, and retain mission-aligned caregivers
- California home care compliance (HCSB) — maintain audit readiness and regulatory adherence
- NEMT (Transportation) integration: Facilitate cross-referrals and coordination between home care and our integrated transportation services. Identify home care clients who may benefit from transportation services and vice versa. The General Manager is not responsible for NEMT operations, staffing, dispatch, or fleet management.
- Technology adoption — utilize scheduling, billing, EVV, and CRM platforms to run a modern, efficient operation
This role operates within a semi-absentee ownership model and requires a leader who can run the day-to-day business independently.
Compensation & Benefits
-
Base salary: $90,000 – $105,000 (DOE) — commensurate with your experience building and leading home care operations
-
Performance bonus: features uncapped growth commissions, revenue scaling milestones, and a caregiver/client satisfaction metric — we reward the builders who scale sustainably with us
Here's what that looks like in practice: 3% of all gross revenue from dollar one — uncapped. Plus milestone bonuses at specific client count and revenue targets totaling up to $14,500 in Year 1. An annual performance bonus up to $6,000 tied to client satisfaction, caregiver retention, and operational metrics. In Year 1 based on experience and performance, total compensation lands around $112,000 – $141,000.
-
Profit Participation: Once profitable, growth commissions transition into a 10% Uncapped Net Profit Share for long-term wealth building
-
Company Vehicle: Branded car for both personal and work use + fuel card/insurance provided; serves as your mobile billboard for the San Diego market
-
Health, Dental, Vision, and 401(k)
-
Paid Time Off: 3 Weeks (21 Days) PTO — providing the necessary balance to recharge during high-growth startup phases
-
Cell Phone Stipend: $100/month
-
Professional Development: Initial and ongoing training and professional development opportunities — we invest in your leadership and industry expertise
-
Strategic Career Path: As the agency scales, this role evolves into a senior executive position; once established, you will transition into a strategic/expansion role (Business Development & New Markets) and hire an Operations Manager to lead the team beneath you

The Mission: Build, Scale, and Lead
As our Founding GM, you are the architect of Amana Assist. You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of the agency — from designing the HCSB-compliant workflows to leading the strategic networking that secures our initial market share.
Key Responsibilities
Phase 1: Startup Architecture & Business Development
- Build the Blueprint: Design and implement foundational systems, workflows, and operational processes from the ground up to ensure a scalable startup
- Lead Market Entry: Identify and establish high-value referral relationships with regional hospitals, case managers, and senior living communities
- Revenue Generation: Drive new client acquisition, conduct initial assessments, and manage the "start of care" process to ensure immediate growth
- Integrated Service Strategy: Represent both home care and transportation services in your referral conversations and partnerships — NEMT operations are owner-supported
Phase 2: Staffing & Operational Excellence (The Administrator Role)
- Recruitment Funnel: Architect and lead the caregiver recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding pipeline to build a high-quality "Founding" staff
- Regulatory Compliance: Serve as the legal Administrator; ensure 100% audit readiness and strict adherence to California Home Care Services Branch (HCSB) regulations
- Operational Oversight: Oversee daily operations, manage caregiver scheduling and training, implement supervision protocols to ensure high staff retention and client satisfaction
- Technology Mastery: Implement and manage our tech stack (Scheduling, Billing, EVV, CRM) and use data-driven reporting to monitor agency performance
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of Home Care management or operations experience
- California Compliance Familiarity: Strong working knowledge of California HCSB non-medical home care regulations and audit readiness — whether from a formal Administrator role or equivalent hands-on experience
- The "Builder" Requirement: Experience launching, growing, or managing a home care agency or service line from the ground up
- Growth Mindset: Strong background in business development, referral networking, or professional sales within the home care industry
- Tech Proficiency: High familiarity with home care software (SwyftOps, WellSky, AxisCare, etc.)
- Leadership Grit: Ability to work independently while managing operations, staffing, and growth simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Who This Role Is For
This role is ideal for a high-performing operator who is ready to stop maintaining someone else's agency and start building their own legacy. You thrive in high-responsibility environments and are motivated by uncapped performance incentives and long-term ownership of the agency's success.
